We're proposing a BarCamp session on the use of LLM technologies for Moodle-related software development. Last year in Vienna, Marcus had a session where he showed some of the tools he'd been using. We're thinking of a sequel of sorts, but more free-form discussion. Anybody who wants can show what they've been using (IDE plugins, agent software, chat interfaces), and we can discuss those.
Potential topics could include:
- How to get started?
- Pitfalls of AI-created code
- Open vs closed LLMs
- Challenges specific to Moodle codebase, and how to overcome them
- Best MCP servers to assist with Moodle development
The idea is that this session could be attended regardless of one's experience with using LLM tools. You can also reply here to indicate your willingness to present in the session, or to wish for a certain topic to be covered.

PS. I am currently studying the impact of large language models on the work of software developers, so my role at MMDACH is twofold: on one hand, I'm involved as a Moodler and developer, and on the other, as an anthropologist gathering data. If you'd like more information about my research, please get in touch!
