I m not a dev and can't join the dev camp. Here is an idea:
While uploading a picture the user can add the licence for the picture. Its not possible to use the information afterwards. Here are some needs:
- Some CC licences needs additional information about he author and/or a link to the licence text. Its not possible to add the information.
- Some CC licenses require to publish the information near the picture when ist used in a course.
The link to the official licence text is fixed and could be changed in the licence settings if required. The link to the author or thename of the author should be added manually..
I think we can add a seperate feature in the file upload dialogue for pictures. Below the area for alt tags we can add a selector 'Show licence information below' or a text field with a default text that can be edited.
Good luck if anybody stars this project.
I've not checked whether there is a tracker issue for this.
