Today it is my pleasure to introduce Ilya Tregubov who will be joining us as mentor during the MoodleMoot DACH DevCamp in order to assist and support our dev teams to help them to "produce working code".

Ilya Tregubov

Ilya grew up in Russia and studied maths in Siberia before moving to Australia in 2010 for a PhD. He ended up staying there for about 10 years, and started working with Moodle back in 2014 at Catalyst IT, and joined Moodle HQ in 2020.
Since then, his work has taken him all over the place—over the past few years he has been moving between countries and teams quite a bit. 2022 was especially hectic, with seven different countries in one year, and in the last four years he has worked across five different HQ teams.
These days Ilya is based in Vitoria-Gasteiz in the Basque Country, Spain. He lives there with his wife and son, and whenever he gets the chance, they try to be outdoors—hiking, cycling, snorkelling, or just exploring somewhere new.

Fun facts

  • Ilya is a nomad, it’s pretty unusual to live in one city or country for more than 2 years
  • He enjoys random travel with little planning: once him and his wife ended up in a jungle on New Year eve at 9pm
  • Long road trips are his thing: longest he did was 3500 km driving in 8 days in a motorhome

Ilya Ilya

Welcome Ilya to our mentors team and see you soon.

Stay tuned & curious
