How to DevCamp?

Dear DevCamp attendees,
first of all ... 🥳 WOW 🥳 ... over 130 people signed up for the DevCamp in Lübeck. This is incredible, amazing, terrifying, and absolutely mind-blowing.

How to DevCamp

Second of all I want to give you a short overview of what you can expect at the DevCamp:
  • It's a hackathon so the main focus is "creating working code"
  • participants may pitch ideas that fit the criterias and that they are willing to "lead" during the DevCamp (check the criteria  in the previous post)
  • if enough participants are interested in an idea, that has been pitched, a team with up to 5 people is born and
  • you code, test, refactor, start over, code, test, adapt, code, and show us your status quo and at the end of the 2nd day your final work(ing code)
With 130 participants we expect to have 25-30 teams.

Main Goal of the DevCamp

This is not the last time you will hear me say that but the main goal of the DevCamp is "working code". If you won't manage to have a finished and published plugin after two days, no worries wink, but coding should definitely be the main focus.

Come prepared

I saw that a few of you have already used the Idea Exchange forum to brainstorm your ideas - amazing!
Regarding the high numbers of attendees, we assume that we will also have quite a few more idea pitches than usually. Which is the reason why I would like to ask you to come a tiny little bit prepared in order to make the idea pitching part as efficient as possible.
Also normally 45 min are enough for the idea pitching part - with 130 participants, we should all be prepared that our planned schedule and the start of our dev sessions might shift a bit.
  • prepare your pitches
  • be aware that the schedule might shift a bit (depending on the # of pitches)

Last but definitely not least, we can't wait to see all your amazing pitches and especially the final projects.

You still have questions...

❓no worries, don't hesitate to pop them here or contact me directly.

See you soon.
