What to expect:
During the Moodle university conference in March 2025, we presented our conceptual foundation for a comprehensive archiving subsystem for Moodle. It is based upon a wide-reaching requirements engineering phase with a significant amount of community contribution (A, B). The aspired archiving subsystem aims to supersede and extend the functionality of the existing Quiz Archiver Moodle plugin we released back in 2023.
Together with this talk, we will release the first public prototype of the new archiving subsystem for Moodle that is paired with an extensive online documentation for users and developers. The plugin brings an easily extendable sub-plugin architecture, allowing it to be adapted for various Moodle activities, storage backends, and campus management systems. We showcase its various components and give a live demo of already existing functionality. This is followed by a comparison to the already existing Quiz Archiver. With this talk, we furthermore open the project for community contributions and start a public Matrix chat group for anyone that wants to follow along. Lastly, our current roadmap is presented.
