What to expect:
Like with many web applications, Moodle can easily be installed and get started with, but securing the application itself as well as the web server can be challenging. Our goal is to raise awareness for typical security problems and provide valuable resources to improve the overall security of Moodle installations.
In this talk we outline the different aspects to consider when securing a productive Moodle instance. For both the application itself and the underlying web server, we highlight easy as well as advanced measures and techniques to secure existing deployments. We provide resources and tutorials for each aspect and point out how to stay informed about current security risks. Lastly, the results of a scan of public Moodle instances within various countries are shown and discussed.
